Is the Premier League sleepwalking into mediocrity.
With Hazard’s imminent departure from Chelsea has the Premier League lost its last genuine superstar?

Aguero and Silva aren’t getting any younger and whilst Salah has been a revolution for Liverpool, I think the marketing men will be having to work overtime trying to flog a flailing product.

It’s been a saving grace that Liverpool and Man City have been able to go at it, like for like, because the rest of the division is bang fucking average.

You sure? This league is the richest in the world. 6 big clubs competing for 4 CL places, with two clubs in the CL SF's that haven't ever won the PL.

There isn't a more competitive league, other than the Championship.

Can’t argue that the Premier League is competitive, but my overwhelming thought is the lack of genuine elite footballers left in the English game.

Think it's more a case that all of the other leagues are very poor at the moment.

Barca aside, I'd fancy liverpool or city against anyone else out there.

Real are currently pretty awful, juve rely on Ronaldo too much, Bayern have some gash in their team and PSG are only good in attack. Just to pick out the usual suspects.

Shows how awful the majority of leagues are with how easily arsenal and Chelsea have reached the Europa semis without breaking sweat. Probably be the final between them and they're hardly great themselves.

If Raheem ain’t turning into a half decent footballer this season under Pep. Then there’s little hope for any fucker out there.?

watch some league games in the other supposedly strong european league's and you'll soon realise our league isn't that bad, just a shame the officials are shit/bent

It's not just the Premier League it's everywhere else too...football is becoming predictable with the billionaires money concentrated on the same limited dozen or so teams.

It's fucking boring...let's not make excuses

Call it how it is

I can see a European super League...these rich Arabs, Yanks, Russians, Chinese etc aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Their eyes have been on the prize from day one.

It will come to pass - for better or worse - depending on how you see it, I suppose.

The Premier league still has the depth of talent but it has been an odd season with two teams miles ahead of the rest and the division into groups more pronounced than ever.
If you are talking about stars (which you were) the Spanish league has Messi (who is also getting on a bit ... though he can still play!) and Griezmann but not sure who else you want to include.
Apart from Salah the PL has DeBruyne & B Silva along with Kante. And a couple of big stars who may also want to migrate to Spain in DeGea and Pogba.

I don’t imagine they will have much trouble selling the next batch of tv rights around the world.

There was me thinking we got to the semi final of the World Cup last year, qualified for EUFA Nations League semi final in a months time, and kicked off our Euros campaign with two resounding victories?

The elite teams in other leagues don't have the pressure which PL clubs have. That's why PL clubs fail in the final stages of the CL. Long may it continue, if it means cunt teams like Man Utd, Liverpool , Chelsea ot the fourbees don't win European matches. Cunts

That’s England not the Premier league

You’d probably say Kane & Sterling are the headline English stars of the PL in the bracket of the others.
I heard Lawro moaning about Lineker celebrating Messi’s goal as Liverpool ‘are representing England ‘

With a German manager a front 3 from Egypt, Senegal and Brazil. A Brazilian keeper and a star defender from Holland

I would like the top 6 to just fuck off to a European Super League and take their arse-licking referees with them, so we could have a really competitive league!

Can't really see the mediocre part, we have dominated the CL, apart from, hopefully, the two finalists, we are likely to have the two finalists in the Europa final, England are doing well plus the championship continues to be highly competitive along with league 1 and 2. I can't see any other country close to having a league structure with such depth.

New Jersey

You might want to have a word with the people who run the MLS then and tell them that promotion and relegation is the lifeblood of competitive football and shouldn't be a closed shop franchise.

Mediocre?

The Premier League has produced 2 Champions League semi finalist and 2 Europa league semi finalists this season.

The odds of a Premier League team in the Champions League final are now slim, but strong chance of an all English Europa League final.

Doesn't say much about the rest of Europe, if mediocrity, can do that well.

Man City & Liverpool are probably both in the top three clubs in the world at the moment.

The top teams in each country will be of a similar level. The rest are usually quite average. Spain and England being exceptions recently.
